Dr John Farrer

We are delighted to announce a new workshop course taking place in Dublin, the heart of Ireland, this March 2019. We will be hosted by Loreto College in the centre of the city, an institution that has a fine reputation for music, and the course will take place over two and a half days between 29 and 31 March. Our musicians will be selected from the RTENSO and The Ulster Orchestra.

Our repertoire for this course is: Brahms Symphony No.4 (piano four hands), Mozart Symphony No.40 (string quartet & piano) and Tchaikovsky Serenade for strings (string quartet).

We sincerely hope that running this course will encourage applicants from across Ireland to attend, but of course we will also be happy to welcome conductors from all corners of the world.

The workshop fee covers the following:

  •    all administration charges

  •    all tuition

  •    at least one session on the podium each day

The fee does not cover travel to Dublin, transport within Dublin, accommodation or food and drink during the course. As usual, participants must provide their own scores. The format for this workshop is as follows: on Friday afternoon we will have our opening session, followed by two sessions each on Saturday and Sunday. Each conductor has an allocated time on the podium for each work.

Application for this Dublin masterclass is a straightforward process of emailing us a completed application form which can be found on our website, together with an application fee of £40 sent by bank transfer to our account, details of which are on the application guide page. The earlier you get your application in the sooner you'll know if you have a place. Please see the application guide for more information. For this course we are offering a limited number of student  conductor places at a reduced fee on a first-come first-served basis.
