Intermediate 2

 

Suitable for conductors comfortable in front of ensembles but still developing technique.

 

Delivery

Each day will include technique sessions where participants will be introduced to basic conducting technique. We will then move on to workshops with professional instrumental ensembles, allowing participants to put into practice what they have learned.

Oct 30: Participants will be working with wind players from the LCW Festival Orchestra

Repertoire

GOUNOD Petite Symphony

SCHUBERT Symphony no. 5 in Bb

(All repertoire is accessible free of charge on IMSLP.org)

Workshop Location

Abacus Arts, 2a Browning Street, London, SE17 1LN

Workshop Fee

£500 (plus £30 application fee)

The workshop fee covers the following: 

  • all administration charges

  • tuition

  • certificate of participation

 

The fee does not cover travel to London, transport within London, accommodation or food and drink during the course. Participants must provide their own scores and batons. 

Each day starts at 10.00am and includes at least 5 hours of tuition, followed by a brief feedback session.

The tutors for this course will be Dr John Farrer and Professor Howard Williams.

Application Deadline

The application deadline for Intermediate Part 2 is Monday 11th October.

Please note that this course will be delivered in a Covid Secure environment, details of which will be circulated to participants prior to the course.

Please note, you do NOT need to have participated in any previous courses to participate in Intermediate Part 2
