London Conducting Workshop

LCW @ CHAMPS HILL

11 - 14 July 2012

Our residential course set in the stunning surroundings of Champs Hill is now legendary among conducting summer schools! It is an ideal place for people to study, but also provides beautiful gardens in which to relax, and comfortable on site accommodation. Food and wine is excellent and plentiful, to aid the relaxation after a hard day of study!

The fee includes the following:

  • all administration charges
  • tuition
  • certificate of participation
  • accommodation in twin-bedded rooms
  • all food and drink

The fee does not cover travel to Champs Hill, and, as usual, participants are required to provide their own scores.

This Workshop is with piano four-hands, and includes technical sessions on such topics as score-preparation/analysis and baton technique, with plenty of time for discussion with colleagues and tutors. This course is ideal for conductors wishing to immerse themselves in intensive study and who need to refresh their technique. The repertoire for this year is provisionally set as follows:

Day 1 BEETHOVEN Symphony No.2

Day 2 DVORAK Slavonic Dance in E minor, Op.72 No.2

Day 3 TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No.6 "Pathetique" Mvmts 1 & 4

The course takes place from 11 - 14 July 2012 and applications are via the application form found here on our website. If you have difficulties opening the form please email us and we will send you one to complete and return. You will need to arrive at Champs Hill by 11.00am on the morning of 11th July for registration and lunch, and you will depart around 12.00pm midday on 14th following a final wrap-up session that morning. Our days start with breakfast together at 8.00am each morning, and sessions start immediately after this, and, following a break for lunch and dinner, continue in the afternoon and evening.
